J'ai perdu une dent!

We had so much fun with Mlle Deanna today.  She taught us how to say "I lost a tooth" in French and we got to pull teeth out of a giant mouth!  We also made our own little mouths and used marshmallows to show how many teeth we had and how many we'd lost.

 
You've probably already heard about our pet guinea pigs.  We've anxiously been waiting for them to arrive and it looks like tomorrow is the big day!  We hope they like our classroom.

Colour Science and a New Friend

Today we welcomed a new friend into our classroom.  This is Mademoiselle Deanna and she is a teacher-candidate from Université de St. Boniface.  She is spending a couple weeks with us now and then again in April.  We love her already and are excited to show her how much fun we have in kindergarten.

We also worked on mixing colours to make new colours and on adding white and black to make colours lighter and darker.  It was messy in the best kind of way.

Portfolio Prep!

Today we had a nest assembly in the gym.  The theme was RESPECT.  Next, we followed our nest group (mixed grade levels) back to our Nest Teacher's classroom and worked on a group project about showing respect.

We also worked in our portfolios.  We have been working hard to prepare for our family visits next Thursday and Friday. 

Bus Ridership and a Field Trip!

We finally got to do our bus ridership this week.  It was good timing because we learned all sorts of safety rules about being on the bus and then we rode the bus to the museum for our first field trip today!

Well, we survived our first field trip!  It was such a great morning.  We watched a presentation on colour and explored the Science Gallery.  The kids didn't want to leave!!  Here are a few hundred (haha) pictures of them in action.  I've left the pictures from the two classes together because they were mixed during the two portions of the visit.  Sorry about some of the shots being blurry.  The kids were on the move!!
