Hot Chocolate or Chocolate Milk?

After recess of Friday, we made hot chocolate with our table groups.

We also had cold chocolate milk and next we did a taste test.

Finally, we completed a survey to show our preferences. When we compared the results, we found that hot chocolate won by a lot.  We decided that the marshmallows played a big part in their decision and without the marshmallows, they might have changed their vote.

Winter Walk

On Thursday, we learned a bit more about winter and went for a Winter Walk.  We talked about some of the things we hoped to find on our walk and we made a list.  The kids were going to look for deer, animal tracks, and 'naked trees'.

Animal tracks - the kids were SURE they were from polar bears!

Snow sensory table from our Winter Walk

We painted it with water-colours.  The snow soaks up the colour beautifully and is another neat way to explore snow and ice.

We love Polar Bears!

On Thursday we learned about foods that polar bears like to eat.  Next, we pretended we were polar bears finding food for our babies.

On Friday, we learned about the polar bear life cycle.  We practiced it on the Smartboard and then acted it out (newborn, baby, cub, young adult, adult).
