Peek at our Week

Here is our November vocabulary if you'd like to practice it at home.

We've been crafting, listening to our storyteller, and experimenting with mixing colours.

Pumpkin Experiment

We had such a great time carving our pumpkins but they were starting to get soft and a little smelly. What a great opportunity for some pumpkin science!  First we talked about what was happening to poor smelly pumpkin.  The kids told me that he was rotting and soon he would just be a pile of mush.  We filled our moldy, old pumpkin with garbage from today's snack.  I told them that we would be burying him in the dirt and digging him up in April (for Earth Day).  I asked them what they thought would happen to him.  They unanimously agreed that the pumpkin would be gone by then.  Most of the kids also guessed that the garbage would be gone too.   Sometimes science experiments take a long time ... we'll check back in April.

Halloween in Kindergarten

We've been going Halloween-crazy in our classroom.  It's been busy and there has been all sorts of great learning going on.  Here are some of the neat things we have been working on:

We turned our orange paintings into goofy pumpkins.

We painted mini-pumpkins and put faces on them during our Halloween party.

We carved pumpkins.  The kids came up with face ideas and drew the face on.

The kids got 'Bugs and Kisses' from their teacher, who  loves them all so, so much.

We celebrated Halloween with a parade, centres and games.

We played 'Mummy Wrap' and 'Guess the Ghost'

Parade

Check out these Halloween cuties!
