Leprechaun!

We noticed earlier in the week that someone was playing pranks on us.  The kids suspected it was a leprechaun.  On Thursday our suspicions were confirmed when a bunch of crazy things happened.  First, the cups we decorated for our celebration were shrunken and turned into little hats!
Then we noticed that the SmartBoard had turned green.  Someone had been playing on our carpet and left a big mess!

We decided we'd had enough!  We set some traps and made gold coins to entice him
When we came back, the traps were knocked around, all of the gold coins were gone and there were a whole bunch of new pranks.  Our boots were hidden all over the room (even in the guinea pig cage!), our gummy bears had turned green, the toilet water was green and there were chocolate gold coins everywhere for us to find.  It was so much fun.

Community Helpers

We have been learning about community helpers, like firefighters, police officers, postal workers and teachers.  We invited our friend Constable Tara White into our classroom to talk about some of things she does to help in our community.  The kids got to hold her bullet-proof vest, her handcuffs and her baton.  She said she would come back in the spring and let us sit in her patrol car!  We had LOTS of questions about safety and learned a lot about being a police officer.

Bye Bye Igloo

Last Friday we heard a loud crack and our entire igloo collapsed!   The afternoon kids (and Mme Anna's class) helped me demolish our igloo.  The loved all of smashing and stomping! Amazingly, it only took about 20 minutes to get it taken down and cleaned up.

Bye, bye igloo!!  You gave us hours and hours of creative play and cost
Mme Katie a small fortune in hot glue sticks!!  We will miss you!!!
